Biofarm makes its popular yoghurt and two milk products using organically produced milk from its own farm.
Biofarm is unique in New Zealand in that the original family still runs the farm and produces the yoghurt on the farm.
The Biofarm factory is located at the home farm in Te Matai Road, on the outskirts of Palmerston North overlooking the Manawatu River. This 227ha farm, which has been organic since the early 1980s, is home to all milking cows and replacement stock. Biofarm is also home to a flock of Drysdale sheep and a herd of goats.
Stony Creek/Whakarongo Schoolhouse
The historic Whakarongo Schoolhouse was built in 1877. In 1993, the Ministry of Education and the Historic Places Trust gifted it to Jamie and Cathy Tait-Jamieson, who were home educating their children at the time.
The schoolhouse sits on the farm in Palmerston North and is put to a variety of uses, from a lecture hall for the many student groups that visit the farm to accommodation and a meeting room for visitors. The schoolhouse’s most significant use is its depiction on all Biofarm products. This gives tangible traceability from the farm out to you, the end consumers of the products we produce.
